Chastain’s Tammy Wynette Film Becomes Series
Jessica Chastain is making her first foray into television, the actress set to play country music legend Tammy Wynette in the limited series “George & Tammy” for Spectrum Originals, Paramount Network and CBS All Access.
Originally developed as a Fox Searchlight feature a few years ago, the series chronicles the country music power couple – Wynette and George Jones – whose complicated relationship inspired some of the most iconic music of all time.
The story is based on daughter Georgette Jones’ book “The Three of Us: Growing Up with Tammy and George”. Abe Sylvia (“Dead to Me”) created the series and executive produces alongside Chastain, Andrew Lazar, and Josh Brolin who was previously attached to play Jones.
Bryan Goluboff, David Glasser, David Hutkin and Bob Yari are also executive producers. Spectrum will have the series exclusively for nine months, after which it will stream on the rebranded CBS All Access. Paramount Network will be the linear home for the series after the Spectrum window expires.
