August Film Releases Now Looking Uncertain?

With the recent surge in U.S. domestic coronavirus cases, exhibitors and distributors are reportedly concerned that there is no clear date in sight as to when cinemas will be allowed to reopen again.

Deadline reports that after the upcoming July 4th holiday weekend this week, there will be another assessment by the studios and the big circuits as to whether the current early slate of titles – “Unhinged,” “Broken Hearts Gallery,” “Tenet” and “Mulan” – will all be pushed back again by two weeks – this time as one block.

This suggests the films currently targeting August openings could easily slide into September and if that so it will likely bump “The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It” on September 11th to sometime in 2021. For now, the movie release state remains a highly fluid situation.
